How storage with SmartyMoves works
- Get a written quote Call 07482 053493 or fill in the quote form. Tell us what you want to store, how long for, and whether you need collection or delivery. Julian confirms a written quote. No deposit.
- Confirm the storage dates Once you accept, we lock in the storage-in date. If the storage is combined with a removal, we coordinate the delivery of your items into storage with the move date.
- Collection and storage-in If collection is booked, the crew collects your items from your current address and moves them into storage. Items are wrapped and loaded the same as any removal.
- Storage period Your items stay in the secure unit for the agreed period. Access is by appointment. Monthly invoices are issued for the ongoing storage period.
- Storage-out and delivery When you are ready, we schedule the collection from storage and delivery to your new address. The crew unloads, places items where you want them, and reassembles beds and furniture if applicable.

Storage across Manchester
Storage is available for customers across Manchester, Trafford, and Salford. Here is how storage is typically used in the areas we work in most.
Salford
Mill conversions and apartment moves often require short-term storage — new-build completions often slip a few weeks behind the original date. Storage bridges the gap without a second removal.
Manchester City Centre
City centre flat moves, especially between tenancies, are the most common storage booking. Storage is used to hold furniture between the end of one lease and the start of the next.
Trafford
Family house moves in Trafford sometimes require staggered storage — some furniture goes to the new property immediately, the rest is held until renovations complete.

Frequently asked questions about storage in Manchester
How much does storage cost in Manchester?
Storage typically ranges from £50–£100 per month for a small unit holding a 1-bedroom flat's contents, £100–£200 for a 2-bedroom flat, £150–£300 for a 3-bedroom house, and £250–£500 for a 4-bedroom house. See our full pricing guide. Minimum storage period is usually one month.
Is the storage secure?
Yes. Storage is in a secure unit with 24-hour CCTV, alarmed entry, and access by appointment only. Your belongings are not accessible to anyone else. Storage is covered by insurance on the same terms as a removal.
Can I access my belongings while in storage?
Yes, by appointment. Access is arranged with Julian at a mutually convenient time. For a one-off retrieval, 24–48 hours notice is usually sufficient. For frequent access, tell us when you request the quote — we can arrange storage with easier access at a slightly higher rate.
Can storage be combined with a removal?
Yes. Storage is most commonly booked together with a removal — for example when a property purchase is delayed, when a rental tenancy ends before the new one begins, or when a house move is happening in stages. Combining removal and storage is usually cheaper than booking them separately.
What can be stored and what cannot?
Household furniture, boxed items, white goods, sports equipment, seasonal items, and most household goods can be stored. Prohibited items include perishable food, live plants, hazardous materials (paints, chemicals, gas cylinders), illegal items, and anything that could attract pests. If you are unsure about a specific item, ask when you request the quote.
