How a flat move with SmartyMoves works

  1. Get a written quote Call 07482 053493 or fill in the quote form. Tell us the floor level, building type (lift or stairs), parking situation, and any large items. Julian confirms a written quote. No deposit.
  2. Confirm your date and building requirements Once you accept, we lock in your date. If your building requires a loading bay booking, lift protection, or a parking suspension, we confirm the requirements with building management before the move.
  3. Packing and preparation (optional) If packing is booked, materials arrive and packing happens the day before or morning of the move. If not, the crew loads what is ready.
  4. Moving day The crew arrives in the confirmed window. Beds and furniture are dismantled, everything is wrapped and loaded, and the van transports to your new flat. Most 2-bedroom flat moves complete in half a day.
  5. Unloading and reassembly Everything is unloaded, placed where you want it, and beds and furniture are reassembled. You check the delivery, confirm everything is in place, and pay on completion.

Flat removal prices in Manchester

Flat moves are typically priced lower than equivalent house moves because of the reduced volume — but the access can make them more difficult. Lifts, loading bays, permit parking, and multiple floors all affect the price. The ranges below reflect typical access. If your flat has unusual access — no lift on the fourth floor, no nearby parking, or a sofa that will not fit through the entrance — tell us when you request the quote.

"Reliable and quick company. The 2 men arrived in time, put everything in the van so quickly and off they went. They agreed to take one of us with them which really helped a lot. Very careful with our plants and everything arrived to their new home intact."

Flat removals across Manchester

Most of our flat moves are in urban areas with specific access challenges — lift access, permit zones, mill conversions, and building management requirements. Here is what to expect in the areas we cover most.

Chorlton

Period housing with tight parking on Beech Road and Wilbraham Road. Victorian and Edwardian flats often have narrow staircases and low ceilings.

Salford

Mill conversions and new-build apartments. Lift access, loading bay bookings, and building management are the usual complications — we handle all three.

Manchester City Centre

City centre flats need lift bookings and loading bay permits. We plan these in advance with building management so there are no delays on move day.

Frequently asked questions about flat removals in Manchester

How much does a flat removal cost in Manchester?

A studio flat move typically costs £200–£450 without packing. A 1-bedroom flat costs £300–£600 without packing or £450–£850 with packing. A 2-bedroom flat costs £450–£900 or £700–£1,300 with packing. A 3-bedroom flat costs £650–£1,200 or £950–£1,800 with packing. See our full pricing guide.

Do you handle lift access and loading bay bookings for flats?

Yes. For flats with lifts, we coordinate with building management for lift protection and reserved lift times. For flats in managed buildings, we handle loading bay bookings where required. Tell us the floor level and building type when you request your quote.

Can you move furniture down narrow staircases in period flats?

Yes. Dismantling and reassembly of beds, wardrobes and standard furniture is included at no extra charge — which is usually necessary for narrow staircases. If a sofa or larger item will not fit down the staircase, we will discuss window or balcony access at the point of survey.

Do you work Saturdays for flat removals?

Yes. We offer Saturday moves alongside weekday moves. Saturdays book up early — 4–6 weeks ahead is recommended. Call 07482 053493 to check availability.

Which areas of Manchester do you cover for flat removals?

Manchester City Centre, Chorlton, Salford, Didsbury, Sale, and the wider Trafford area. See all areas. Long-distance flat removals from Manchester are available across the UK.
